Waiting On Wednesday!(13)

January 5, 2010

As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia’s boarding school, Lily Parker thinks her classmates are the most monstrous things she’ll have to face…

When Lily’s guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, she was shocked. So was St. Sophia’s. Lily’s ultra-rich brat pack classmates think Lily should be the punchline to every joke, and on top of that, she’s hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building.

The only thing keeping her sane is her roommate,
Scout, but even Scout’s a little weird—she keeps disappearing late at night and won’t tell Lily where she’s been. But when a prank leaves Lily trapped in the catacombs beneath the school, Lily finds Scout running from a real monster.

Scout’s a member of a splinter group of rebel teens with unique magical talents, who’ve sworn to protect the city against demons, vampires, and Reapers, magic users who’ve been corrupted by their power. And when Lily finds herself in the line of a firespell, Scout tells her the truth about her secret life, even though Lily has no powers of her own—at least none that she’s discovered yet…

October 6, 2009

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. He has no recollection of his parents, his home, or how he got where he is. His memory is black. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade, a large expanse enclosed by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning, for as long as they could remember, the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night, they’ve closed tight. Every thirty days a new boy is delivered in the lift. And no one wants to be stuck in the maze after dark.
The Gladers were expecting Thomas’s arrival. But the
next day, a girl springs up—the first girl ever to arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. The Gladers have always been convinced that if they can solve the maze that surrounds the Glade, they might be able to find their way home . . . wherever that may be. But it’s looking more and more as if the maze is unsolvable.
And something about the girl’s arrival is starting to make Thomas feel different. Something is telling him that he just might
have some answers—if he can only find a way to retrieve the dark secrets locked within his own mind.

Firespell looks awesome, I'm a sucker for a good boarding school book.

Maze Runner's been getting a lot of attention in the YA blogosphere, hopefully it lives up to the hype 😀

Welcome to Pure Imagination! I started this blog in 2008 because I desperately needed somewhere to talk about books with people that love them as much as I do. Since then I've become a Mom to two incredible, rambunctious little boys, Finn and Rowan. They keep me busy, but I do try to squeeze in reading and blogging when I can. Take a look around the blog! I hope you find some new books to love.

Pure Imagination

Hi There!

I'm Lori! I've been gushing about books here on Pure Imagination since 2008. I've been married for almost 10 years to a wonderful guy who puts up with my book hoarding. We have two incredible little boys, Finn and Rowan. We also have 6 cat roommates. They're in charge! If I'm not chasing 2 rambunctious boys, changing a diaper, or cleaning up endless piles of Hot Wheels, then I might be reading...or taking a nap.
