In the fall of 2006 I walked into Books A Million determined to buy a book. See I loved to read but I had a hard time just walking into a bookstore and picking something out. This was the days before I had great online friends to recommend books to me. This was even before I realized there was a whole genre of the books I loved to read.
I walked into Books A Million and my eye was immediately drawn to the new release section and this book with a beautiful cover. It was a black background with a red and white feathered tulip on it. It was unlike any cover I had ever seen before. I read the inside flap and thought "Wow! this is about vampires!" My obsession with vampires started at a very early age.
I browsed around the store some more but came back to the new release section again and read the description of the book again. It said nothing about it being in a series so I bought it!
I started reading New Moon the next morning. It quickly became clear that this was a sequel to something but by that time I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't care. I kept reading. It was like nothing I had ever read before. I had never been so fully involved in a story.
I finished New Moon and went straight back to the bookstore to get Twilight. I flew through it! If I thought New Moon was amazing, Twilight was even better! It was truly amazing! I was so in love with Edward and I cared for Jacob so much that it was like I was really there.
After I finished Twilight I had to have more. I discovered Stephenie Meyer's website and all the fun things she had there. Like her dream cast(which is sadly not there anymore)playlists, and pictures of all the cars. I also learned the third book, Eclipse wouldn't be released for another year. I was devastated!
I managed to cope somehow until Eclipse's release. Then the wait for Breaking Dawn was even harder!
Now three years later, its all over. We still have Midnight Sun to look forward to(hopefully). I have read a lot of books since then. A lot of really amazing books. Nothing has made me feel like the Twilight series makes me feel. Even today when I reread them I fall in love with them all over again. I can't explain what makes these books so special for me but they are.
Sure Stephenie Meyer may not be a fantastic writer but does that matter? She is an amazing story teller. She created a series of books that I and millions of other people will enjoy for the rest of our days.

I have something for you on my blog : )
This is exactly how I feel about the Twilight Series. The series isn't the best-written set of books, but they have this addicting story and I'm completely captivated by it.
I love to read people's impressions of the Twilight series especially when they are similar to mine. It's like the characters become a part of me, like when Edward left I lost of piece of myself. I enjoyed reading our similar feelings about Twilight!
So crazy that you read New Moon before Twilight. I imagine that that would have completely changed my reading experience. You were lucky that you at least got to read the first two at the same time.
Someone gave me a BAM $100 gift certificate, and I went crazy buying books with pretty covers that I had never heard of. Hardcover Twilight ended up being a part of that. And then the wait was just FOREVER!
YAY Twilight!!!!
I'm so happy for all the positive feedback! There's been so much Twilight hate out there. It's good to hear that people still love it as much as I do!
brizmus, It is crazy! I wish publishers would put plainly on covers BOOK TWO! LOL I guess it probably did have an effect on my reading experience. I'm totally team Edward but it made me love Jacob too. Where as other people completely hate him.
I totally agree with everything you said! I still have not found a book that I've fallen in love with as much as the Twilight Series. However, it's weird how you started New Moon...I'm sure you loved Jacob at first but then reading Twilight Edward took your heart as well :) Thank you for sharing your experience with this amazing series, I felt the same!
