Lurk: a : to lie in wait in a place of concealment especially for an evil purpose b: to be concealed but capable of being discovered c: to read messages on an Internet discussion forum (as a newsgroup or chat room) without contributing.
Do you lurk? I do. I don’t know about having evil intent but that last definition hits the nail on the head! Believe it or not I am a very shy and quiet person. I guess this blog is my outlet because in real life I go out of my way to avoid conversations–especially with old classmates! I would even go so far as to say I’m a bit of a loner. Not the scary trench coat wearing kind but the I would rather stay at home with a book than go out kind.
Are avid readers more prone to being–I don’t want to use the word loner–independent? I’m getting a little off topic because my original intent was to discuss lurking. I read a ton of blogs. Everyday! I honestly don’t comment a lot. I try to! I do! But sometimes I just don’t have anything to say. So I lurk. It makes me feel bad sometimes because I get all these comments on here but often don’t return the favor. So know that I do read your blogs, I’m just not good at commenting. I try to do a lot of commenting on WoW’s and IMM’s but other than that I’m the ‘evil’ non-trench coat wearing loner lurker!
Are you a lurker too? Now is your time to come out of hiding and comment!
