Welcome to Dragging Up the Past, where we are going to spotlight not necessarily old books but books that don’t get as much attention as they deserve. Hopefully this is going to become a every Tuesday thing. With a different book and a different Blogger every week.
This week’s Dragging Up the Past is from Ari at Teens Read?
I originally only found out about Prep by reading Love Sick, I had really like Jake Coburn’s work so I was like “Eh what the heck.” I really wish I had done it the other way around…. But anyway, when I found out about this book I marched up to my local library, looked it up, and left that library with a not so good condition, copy of Prep. I remember I had read this after I fell in love with The Outsiders by S.E Hinton so when I found out it was called a modern day Outsiders I sqeauled (yes squealed) Ive read this book about a good five times in about 3 years. Its one of the few books that I truly love. So anyway, Prep was basically this boy loves his best friend, he doesnt know if she loves him in return. He used to be in a prep gang (which was common were they were living) until something happened causing him to stop. His friends brother gets into some trouble with an opposite gang and the boy is dragged down a road he really would have rather never to have returned to. Thats just the basic beginning plot line though. Anyway, I never regretted that day where I walked into my icky old library discovered, that ratty, old, (bizzare substance covered) book. Prep is definitely a book that is great for readers who loved Outsiders, Lovesick, or a book involving gangs and graffiti.
I would like to have a different Blogger highlighting a book every week. So if you would like to write a post for this feature please e-mail me at pureimagination77(at)gmail(dot)com
