Years have passed since Alice lost her mother to cancer, but time hasn’t quite healed the wound. Alice copes the best she can, by writing her music, losing herself in the love of her boyfriend, and distancing herself from her father and his new wife.
But when a deadly snowstorm traps Alice with her stepmother and newborn half-sister, she’ll face issues she’s been avoiding for too long. As Alice looks to the heavens for guidance, she discovers something wonderful.
Perhaps she’s not so alone after all…
Once again Lisa Schroeder has blown me away. I loved Chasing Brooklyn and I Heart You, You Haunt Me but I honestly think I loved Far From You even more than those two!! In this book we get the story of Alice. Her mother died when she was a child and now her dad is remarried with a replacement child on the way. Alice resents her step-mother and her new half-sister but when a snowstorm traps the three of them alone in the middle of no where, she must come to terms with her problems or they just might not make it out.
I’m not going to say that I was shocked that I could love a verse novel so much. I’m not going to say that it surprised me how easily I connected with these characters. Because it didn’t. After reading Lisa Schroeder’s other books, I knew this one would be great. I wasn’t wrong.
I was sucked into Alice’s story instantly. I loved her relationship with Blaze but unlike Schroeder’s other books, that relationship takes a backseat to Alice’s family. I loved the journey we took with Alice. I just plain loved Far From You!
If you have any doubts about reading one of Lisa’s books please put them aside and read just one of her books. I know if you read one you will read them all!
