Blurb:
A serial killer on the loose. A girl with a morbid ability. And the boy who would never let anything happen to her.

Violet Ambrose can find the dead. Or at least, those who have been murdered. She can sense the echoes they leave behind… and the imprints they leave on their killers. As if that weren’t enough to deal with during junior year, she also has a sudden, inexplicable, and consuming crush on her best friend since childhood, Jay Heaton.

Now a serial killer has begun terrorizing Violet’s small town… and she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

My Thoughts:

I have been plagued by low expectations lately. Is this a good thing or bad thing? I haven’t decided yet. These low expectations mostly revolve around paranormal/supernatural books. It seems like 85% of the books I read in this genre lately have been disappointing. So when I picked up The Body Finder, I wasn’t expecting much. The same old story with the same main character, and the same hot boy. This is where having low expectations pays off, because The Body Finder was a absolutely Fantastic read!

The suspense built from the very first page and didn’t let up until the very last. It was impossible to put down. The book is interspersed with short chapters about the killer which, to me, was an incredible touch. It brought the mystery to a boiling point. There were even a couple of times I gasped at the end of a chapter. Only to be reassured in the next.

The characters were all perfectly crafted. They were believable and I rooted for them the entire book. Violet was the kind of main character that I love in this genre. She didn’t whine about her abilities. She just used them. Jay was swoon worthy *sigh* There relationship plays a big role in the book and I loved every minute of it. I have read some reviews saying that they wish the mystery would have played a bigger role than the romance. I was perfectly happy with the amount of both. One really played off the other.

Kimberly Derting’s writing was fantastic. There wasn’t a single moment that I lost interest. This is a gripping intense book that will have YA fans raving for a long time to come. I have two words to leave you with: Sequel? and When?

I agree that Violet was different and tried to work with her talents other than complain or try to get away from them. And I liked how her family and Jay always supported her.

    Great review!
