His love captivated her… his secrets might kill her.

Since her sister’s mysterious death, Persephone “Phe” Archer has been plagued by a series of disturbing dreams. Determined to find out what happened to her sister, Phe enrolls at Devenish Prep in Shadow Hills, Massachusetts—the subject of her sister’s final diary entry.

After stepping on campus, Phe immediately realizes that there’s something different about this place—an unexplained epidemic that decimated the town in the 1700s, an ancient and creepy cemetery, and gorgeous boy Zach—and somehow she’s connected to it all.

But the more questions she asks and the deeper she digs, the more entangled Phe becomes in the haunting past of Shadow Hills. Finding what links her to this town…might cost her her life.

Hooray for completely original concepts! Shadow Hills is suspenseful and mysterious from page one. Phe goes to Shadow Hills looking for answers about her dreams, she finds a lot more than she bargained for. This book is equal parts mystery, romance, and maybe creeptastic at times. You can’t help but be enthralled.

Is Anastasia really a debut author? Because you would never know it from her excellent writing. It’s so fluid and gripping. Her characters were so well developed and likable! That’s something I have had a hard time finding lately. Phe was fun and smart. Sometimes she was a little reckless but that makes for fun reading! I didn’t feel the connection between her and Zach as much as I wanted, but that’s only a minor complaint. There was a array of characters, rich southern girl, computer geek girl, creepy bad boy, and secretly intelligent stoner boy. What’s not to love?

The premise was brilliant! No vampires or werewolves here! Hopcus has created a alluring town, with secrets and a mysterious past. All of this is pulled together seamlessly. I think we are off to a wonderful start with Anastasia and I can’t wait to see more!
