Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie’s always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours, but still. Normal.
Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie’s dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.
Light paranormals usually aren’t my cup of tea. Honestly, lately, paranormals aren’t my cup of tea. The ones I like are few and far between. It’s hard to like them when they are all cast from the same mold. Vampires and/or Werewolves: Check! Love Triangle: Check! That’s the standard. I’m tired of it, but something drew me to Paranormalcy. It wasn’t the awesome cover, I wanted to read it before the cover was released. I guess what drew me in was the thought of something fresh amongst the stale paranormals out there. Thankfully it delivered 100%!!
Kiersten White has created a amazingly original world that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The idea of the IPCA was so interesting and detailed, but White didn’t bog us down with boring history and useless information. It was straight to the point!
Evie was a delightful main character. Her enthusiasm about life was catching! She was silly and naive, but not the least bit annoying. She was tough, but not afraid to let the grown ups handle things. You really couldn’t ask for a better protagonist!
Are you sitting down? (You probably are since you are at a computer) Because I am about to tell you something shockingly unbelievable! There was no love triangle in this book!! Isn’t that incredible!? Don’t get me wrong, I like a good ol’ fashioned angsty love triangle just as much as the next person, but sometimes I crave drama free romance! Maybe that’s just me being too realistic!
In all seriousness, that romance in this book was wonderful! Lend was a great love interest and their chemistry was completely believable!
As you can tell, I loved this book! It was such a fun, refreshing read! When you need a break from all the drama read Paranormalcy! You won’t regret it!

Great review! I read this one recently too and really enjoyed it! Can't wait for the next one!
One of those totally awesome stories, I can NOT wait to read more – Paranormalcy is one of my fav.s!! Great review.
I recently read this one too and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading something different for a change. Nice review
I can't wait to read this one! No love triangle?!?! Way to break the mold, Kiersten! =) I'm totally with you on the paranormal thing getting overdone nowadays – and usually the heroine is annoying. I am SO glad to hear that's not the case here! Evie sounds awesome! Thanks for the great review!
I loveeeeed this book! It was such a fun, refreshing YA read and I just ate it up. And Lend…how dang lovable is he?!
I can't wait to read more from this author. She's got a ton of promise!

I loved it too! I wasn't too sure about it when I first started it. The cover is kind of dark and dramatic and the story suggests otherwise, but it works! Awesome review!
I loved this one as well! The lightheartedness and fun feel to it is wonderful. Thanks for the review
The cover on this one definitely caught my eye but really glad to hear there was some substance to it also! Great review!
I just read this one as well, and enjoyed it very much! I never thought about it, but you're right…there is no love triangle. Makes for a refreshing change of pace! I can not say just how much I LOVED this one! Fab review!
I loved Paranormalcy too. I thought White did a terrific job with the development of the IPCA. I also loved the conflict of Evie trying to save Lend and was very emotional with what happens to Evie's mermaid friend. This definitely breathed new life into the paranormal genre.
I can't wait to read Paranormalcy! Fab review xxx
