Lily Parker is new to St. Sophia’s School for Girls, but she’s already learned that magic can be your best friend…or your worst enemy.
They say absolute power corrupts absolutely. Turns out, even a little magic can turn you to the dark side. That’s why Lily has to learn how to control her newly discovered paranormal abilities, on top of avoiding the snobs who think they run her school, nursing a crush on a cute sophomore with a big, werewolf-y secret, and fighting the good fight with her best friend Scout as they take on Chicago’s nastiest nightlife—including the tainted magic users known as Reapers.
Then Lily’s invited to a private meeting with Sebastian. He’s hot, powerful, and offering to help her harness the magic flowing in her veins in a way no one else can. He’s also a Reaper. Lily can’t hide her suspicions. But she’ll soon find out that the line between good and evil isn’t always clear…
Chloe Neill doesn’t disappoint with the second installment in The Dark Elite series. In fact, she proves that this in a series you must read! Hexbound picks up right where Firespell left us. I was engrossed from the first chapter. I love the world that Neill has created in this series.
Once again I’m enchanted by Lily and Scout. They make a great team and their quick wit and banter make this such a fun read. All the characters were fantastic and interesting. We were even introduced to some new characters. One of which I can’t wait to read more about! I’m talking about Detroit. She was awesome! She even had a steampunk feel.
The romance between Jason and Lily develops more in this one and I must say that it is swoon-worthy. I love Jason, but I’m also very interested in Sebastian…I want to see where that angle leads! Mostly, I just want book three as soon as possible.
If you are a fan of well written and original paranormal (who isn’t?) this is a series you need to check out. You will be pulled into the world of The Dark Elite and Adepts from the very first page and you will be craving more after the last page. Don’t miss out on this series!
