Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules.
She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir Princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardian to come.
Now the law has finally caught up with Rose- for a crime she didn’t even commit. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She’ll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.
But the clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back… and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your life is about saving others, who will save you?
This is going to be a bit of an unconventional review, because how much reviewing can I actually do? This is the sixth book, so of course I like the story and, of course I like the characters, but then that leaves me with discussing my thoughts on the conclusion. Can I do that without spoilers? I’m going to try.
Last Sacrifice is the last book in one of the best YA series out there! In Vampire Academy we were sucked into this new and exciting world or vampires and dhampirs and the action and adventure just kept reaching new levels in each book after. The development of Rose and Lissa, and all the other characters throughout the series is extraordinary. I don’t think there could have been a more fitting ending.
I’ll admit that I wasn’t incredibly shocked by anything that was reveled, well maybe one thing, but I love how everything came together and the journey to get to the end was what made the book great. It was as action packed as you would expect. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.
Like I said before I am happy with the way things ended, lots of things were still left open–one very big thing, in my opinion–but those are things that will probably be dealt with in the new series. This was the end of Rose’s story and I’m definitely going to miss her. I’m going to miss her ass kicking and sarcasm!
I think I did it with no spoilers!! But highlight below if you want to read my spoilery thoughts!
I, for some reason wasn’t too shocked that Tasha killed the queen, but I was shocked about Jill being Lissa’s sister! I didn’t see that one coming! And I think we all knew that Lissa was going to be queen!
