One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two teens—both named Will Grayson—are about to cross paths. As their worlds collide and intertwine, the Will Graysons find their lives going in new and unexpected directions, building toward romantic turns-of-heart and the epic production of history’s most fabulous high school musical.

Hilarious, poignant, and deeply insightful, John Green and David Levithan’s collaborative novel is brimming with a double helping of the heart and humor that have won both them legions of faithful fans.

I’m a huge fan of both of these authors, especially David Levithan. So I can’t think of two better authors to write a book together. Both David and John have a different way of approaching YA. They don’t dumb it down. Their writing is intelligent, funny, and original.

When I was reading this book I kept thinking that whimsical is a good word to explain it, but now I don’t know. Its still a good word, but whimsical brings to mind a lighthearted, cheerful read. Which this was at times, but it’s also full of strong emotions and tough situations. One of the things I loved most about this book was that it shines light on the fact that most of the time our emotions are the things that tear our relationships apart. Not some outside entity, its usually our own messed up, self destructive feelings and those feelings are never more prevalent than when you’re a teen.

The characters were all fabulous! Will Grayson #1 has always been overshadowed by his best friend Tiny, and Will Grayson #2 is completely alone in the world. Both of them are just trying to find themselves. The character growth throughout the book was amazing! And we can’t forget the side characters, one very big side character, Tiny Cooper! Tiny stole the scene every time he was in it! Sometimes I wanted to smack him, but he truly was Fabulous!

Will Grayson, Will Grayson is a ingenious book that should be on everyone’s must read list! It has everything that you would want in a novel, so you will definitely find something to love!

Potter-Thon Week Four Updates!!

I’ve been reading Goblet of Fire off and on this week. I haven’t got to devote a lot of time to it because I have sooo many review books, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with it! I have forgotten a lot of the details in this one, so its great to refresh my memory.
I also love seeing the start of…more romantic story lines. Ron and Hermione really make me laugh! I’m really looking forward to finishing this one up this weekend!
Here’s what all the other Potter-Thoner’s are up to:
Julia  at That Hapa Chick posted her thoughts on the Sorcerer’s Stone and the Chamber of Secrets! (She’s a first time reader and her excitement shows!)
Ann at Creativity’s Corner shared her thoughts on the Harry Potter Soundtracks! Go check it out!
If I missed anyone’s posts/reviews just let me know!

Oh and on a side note: This picture just surfaced! Its from Deathly Hallows part 2! What do you think it is? The battle of Hogwarts maybe?

Now that the month is drawing to a close I want to know:
What is your favorite Harry Potter book?
(this question is for everyone! Not just Potter-Thon participants!)

Review: Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton

Ari can’t help feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish silver hair that can’t be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is.

Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.

She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very…different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.

Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed

Finally! An author has brought the ass kicking heroine found in Adult Urban Fantasy to YA! From the moment that you meet Ari you will never question her ability to take care of herself and Kelly Keaton’s new dystopian/supernatural world will leave you wanting ten more books right away!

I’ll admit this right here and now. I was not excited to read this book. Not just this book, but pretty much any supernatural/paranormal debuts. Lots of them seem to be uninteresting or unoriginal to me me lately. But from the moment I read the first page of Darkness Becomes Her I was hooked. I was excited. And I stayed that was for the rest of the book!

The world that Keaton has created in this book was, simply put, fantastic! I bet you have never read anything like it! It was a little dystopian-ish–with New 2 being the destroyed and rebuilt New Orleans bought and guarded by the watchful eyes of The Novem–but it’s also different because it is filled with vampires, shape shifters, witches, and just about every creature that you can think of, but this is not a vampire book! No, not even close. This book is the start of a series that I think will be brilliant!

This book could have been awesome based on the world alone, but it is also filled to the brim with intriguing characters. Ari, the main character is everything you could ask for! She doesn’t take crap from anyone! She’s independent and she might just kick your ass….She carries a gun! A GUN! I loved her! All the minor characters and the love interest, Sebastian were also terrific!

Have I convinced you yet? Are you placing a order for this book in another tab right now? You should be! Unless..you know….you don’t like action packed, original, good books…..Read it!

Till they discover a stash of old letters. That’s when they decide to jack the Pontiac and hit the road. Holding up donut shops in Sin City might seem extreme, but if they can just get their pretty bad faces back on TV — or TMZ — they might wrap up their whole gaga saga with an Oprah-worthy reunion already!

As if transferring senior year weren’t hard enough, Charlotte Locke has been bumped to lower level classes at her new school. With no friends, a terrible math SAT score, and looming college application deadlines, the future is starting to seem like an oncoming train for which she has no ticket.
Then Amanda enters her orbit like a hot-pink meteor, offering Charlotte a ticket to something else: popularity. Amanda is fearless, beautiful, brilliant, and rich. As her new side kick, Charlotte is brought into the elite clique of the debate team—and closer to Neal, Amanda’s equally brilliant friend and the most perfect boy Charlotte has ever seen.
But just when senior year is looking up, Charlotte’s life starts to crumble. The more things heat up between Charlotte and Neal, the more Neal wants to hide their relationship. Is he ashamed? Meanwhile, Amanda is starting to act strangely competitive, and she’s keeping a secret Charlotte doesn’t want to know.
Talented newcomer Alexa Martin delivers a poignant story of first love, jealousy and friendship, where the ups and downs of senior year have never been so complicated. What else can Charlotte do but throw her hands up and ride?

I can’t wait for both of these! Pretty Bad Things sounds like something I will love and Girl Wonder sounds very fun and drama filled! I love both covers too!
