Series: Haunting Emma Book #2
Received From: Publisher
Emma Vaile is the most powerful ghostkeeper in centuries. Which is great when she’s battling the wraith-master Neos, but terrible when she’s flirting with fellow ghostkeeper (and soul mate) Bennett. When ghostkeepers fall in love, the weaker one loses all power, and that’s not something Bennett can handle. Heartbroken and alone, Emma tries to lose herself in school with fellow ghostkeeper, Natalie. When a new team of ghostkeepers arrive—one a snarky teen
boy, the other a British scholar—Emma finds solace in training for the battle against Neos. But as the team grows stronger, they are threatened by an unknown force. One they thought was good.
As chilling and page-turning as Deception, this sequel will grab readers and hold them to the last page. No one is safe from suspicion as Emma closes in on the traitor.
What a fun series this is shaping up to be! Betrayal picks up right where Deception left off and there’s not a dull moment after. Emma is always getting into one thing or another and her antics and adventures make for a enjoyable, fast read.
Some of the main characters from the first book don’t play as strong a role in this one, but we get to meet all kinds of interesting new Ghostkeepers. Even the romance is put a little on the back burner, but I was completely fine with that. I liked seeing Emma stand on her own without Bennett. Emma’s growth in this installment is great! She’s brave and she doesn’t complain about the hand she has been dealt. On top of all of that, she’s quirky and funny, and I love that about her! She’s just an all around great character!
If you haven’t started this series yet, I highly recommend that you do! It’s a fantastic, action filled paranormal that will keep you wanting more. Not to mention that they are fast reads! Really, what are you waiting for?
