Blogger Tips & Tricks -10-

Today I am talking about domain names for your blog! I’ve noticed that there are a few misconceptions about them and I want to address them.

Firstly, ‘It’s hard to get your own domain and set it up!’
Some people make it much, much harder than it has to be. Here’s what you do, you go to your Blogger Dashboard. Click Settings then then Publishing (if you are using the new interface the it will be on the Settings main page). You will see this at the top:

or this with the new interface:

In both cases you will click Custom Domain. You will then check to see if the address you want is available. Once you get your address all worked out you will pay….which brings me to my second misconception:

Custom Domains are expensive’
No they aren’t. With Google (which is they way I’m showing you) it;s $10 a year. That’s all.

After you pay Google will do everything for you. Everything. It takes a couple of days for everything to transfer over but it doesn’t cause any real issues with your blog. Your old blogspot address will automatically redirect to your new domain. That’s it.

Let me know if there are tips and tricks you want me to discuss!

I feel like I waste a lot of time copying and pasting and was wondering if once you set up a post if you couldn't duplicate (sort of like you do with the Rafflecopter forms). I use Google's Blogger
