We can’t all love everything and some books just aren’t for me. Sometimes I try really hard to love a book but if it’s taking me 4 days to read 100 pages, we need to have the talk. I debated quite a while on whether or not to do this feature, but I thought it would be fun, so Book Breakups was born.
This books sounded like something I would LOVE. I’m a child of the 90’s and I adore any reference to 90’s music or pop culture. I did not adore this book. I really wanted to, but it seemed really cliched to me (that could be because I remember the 90’s). I can usually get past cliches easily but it seemed like both of these authors tried to cram as many references to that decade as they could within the first 10 pages. I rolled my eyes often. Then I finally just gave up. It just came off as a little silly to me. Which is unfortunate because the premise is fantastic. Lots of people adored it, though:

Everneath wasn’t a must read for me. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have given it a second thought, but I received it in the mail and I always try to read the books I get. I just couldn’t connect with this one. It’s starts off confusing and the pacing was slow. I also get really impatient with MC’s that think they are unworthy of a boy’s attention. I probably just didn’t stick with it long enough because everyone seems to love it. In the interest of full disclosure I did try to read this in the middle of a reading slump…But here are some people that loved it:
