Cover changes happen. I’ve come to terms with that. Sometimes I don’t always understand them but I assume that the publishing industry knows a lot more than me. 😉 That doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion and a preference. So I want to point out some of the cover changes I adore…and the ones I do not. Whether it be repackaging or new covers for paperback. Feel free to state your opinion as well.
Curse Workers series by Holly Black
I really didn’t mind the original covers. They weren’t amazing but they suited the stories really well. But OMG I love the new covers. Love! Honestly, they might be some of my favorite covers ever.
Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick
The original cover was fine, but I don’t think it was very eye catching and it didn’t tell you much about the story. I really like the new one.
Give Me a Call by Sarah Mlynowski
I like the hardback cover, but the paperback is stunning.
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
I love the paperback cover so much more. This is one where they really got it right.
The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller
I love the new cover so much that I bought the paperback even though I already owned the hardcover…
Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
I think I’m very much the minority when it comes to these, right? I like the new versions better.
I also wanted to mention that A Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder is getting a new cover for the paperback. The hardback cover might be one of my favorite ever, but I still really love the new one as well.
Ummm…the ones I don’t love
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
The original cover was so stunning. It’s probably one of my favorite covers ever. I’m so sad that they are changing it for the paperback.
The Shade trilogy by Jeri Smith-Ready
I never loved the original covers but I greatly, greatly prefer them to the new ones…
Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
The original cover wasn’t my favorite, but it was really unique and definitely eye catching in person. I’m disappointed that they are changing it to a girl in a pretty dress cover. (Although, I do think it’s pretty…)
Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton
I’ll admit that the new cover maybe goes with the story better, but I still prefer the old one. Although, I do like The Blood Keeper cover.
Which cover changes do you love? Which do you dislike? Did I leave an important one out?
