YA on TV is going to be a new semi regular feature. It’s really just going to be an excuse to blab about TV shows and movies that I LOVE, but the main focus is going to be TV shows and movies that appeal to me on the same level that YA books. (Not necessarily shows based on YA books…just shows that feel YA) Admittedly, I don’t watch a lot of TV but the shows that I do love feel rooted in YA. Sometimes I’m just going to gush about the show and sometimes I will recommend similar books. This edition is dedicated to Gilmore Girls.
I can’t do this feature without gushing about Gilmore Girls. Not only does it fit with YA to TV perfectly but it’s one of my top 3 favorite shows ever. I adore this show. I LOVE this show. If you’ve watched it you know exactly what I mean. If you haven’t watched it what are you waiting for? I have honestly never heard anyone say they dislike this show.
It has everything you could ask for. It hilarious. There’s tons of really funny pop culture references. There’s lovely romance, family drama, and the best mother daughter relationship ever. There is nothing lacking with Gilmore Girls.
I started watching GG with the pilot. Then I think I probably watched 2 seasons of it and something happened in real life (probably high school and boys…) and I stopped watching. I started re-watching them all when my husband and I moved in together and fell in love all over again.
There’s really something special about the show that I can’t explain. It’s so easy to relate to. I’ve laughed and cried with Lorelei and Rory. I was so sad to see the series end, especially because it was a little abrupt. But I’m happy I got to spend time in Stars Hollow while it lasted.
Of course I must mention the Rory boyfriend situation…..She totally should have ended up with Jess! He was perfect for her in every way. (She probably would have ended up with him if Heroes wouldn’t have came along…or if they hadn’t broken up in real life around the time he was last on the show). I did like Logan, though he was no Jess. Dean, who?
