I’ve talked about how much I love high fantasy on several different occasions, but never has that been more true than this year. I’m not fangirly about many things, just Harry Potter, Friday Night Lights, and…books in general… But I’ve been feeling a lot of nerdy fangirliness about high fantasy lately and I kind of love every minute of it. There’s nothing better than wrapping yourself up in a fantasy world. Fantasy is the only genre that consistently makes me want to forget the real world and just live inside these books.
So, what books have been making me feel this way lately? These are my top favorites of the year so far:
These books have set the bar very high for my 2012 reading list. I’m not sure many others will top them.
I also watched season 1 of Game of Thrones in the last few weeks and I must say that I love it as well. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to tackle the books but I do have a hold on the audiobook and I’m hoping to devour that as soon as it comes in.
There’s also lots of high fantasy that I still need to read or that I anxiously waiting on:
Crown of Embers by Rae Carson
The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forster
Lord of the Rings (I’m a little ashamed to admit that I haven’t read them…)
I’m really just in the mood to devour every bit of fantasy that I can get my hands on at the moment. No other genre makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and magical. I’m so nerdy and I love it it!
