Cover changes happen. I’ve come to terms with that. Sometimes I don’t always understand them but I assume that the publishing industry knows a lot more than me. That doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion and a preference. So I want to point out some of the cover changes I adore…and the ones I do not. Whether it be repackaging or new covers for paperback. Feel free to state your opinion as well. This is Part 5 of what is turning out to be a very ongoing post. (There’s just so many changes) Click for Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4.
Yay for change…sometimes
The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
I never cared much for the original cover. I think I’ve mentioned the Abe Lincoln lookalike on several occasions. So I’m pretty happy with this change. Even though I have a hardback of the original, I’ll be buying this in paperback.
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Three covers is quite a lot, huh? I’m curious to hear what you guys think of these since I wasn’t a huge fan of the book. I suppose with the newest they were going for a more boy-friendly look.
Dirty Little Secrets by C.J. Omololu
I don’t understand why they changed this cover at all. I really, really like the original. It would definitely make me stop and pick it up in the bookstore. I wouldn’t give the paperback a second look. It doesn’t work for me. Also, I really liked this book!
The Summer I Learned to Fly by Dana Reinhardt
I haven’t had a chance to read this book yet, but I’ve wanted to ever since seeing that cover. I think it’s gorgeous. The new one is okay, but I definitely prefer the original.
Forgotten by Cat Patrick
I like both of these, but I might like the new one just a tiny bit more. I like how dark and mysterious it is.
So, what do you guys think? Love any of the changes?
