This week’s topic is: Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished (because either you didn’t like them, you just have procrastinated, etc.
Matched series by Ally Condie
I read Matched and really, really liked it, but for some reason I still haven’t read book two. Not because I don’t want to, but just because I don’t ever think about it when I have time to read non-review books. I really need to sit it out in the open so that I remember it!
Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
I loved Beautiful Creatures. Then I didn’t like book two quite as much…then I just never got around to reading book three. I really need to because I’ve heard that it’s amazing!
Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins
I read Hex Hall and adored it! I don’t know why I haven’t read the others yet.
Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine
I discovered this series when there were only four books out, I think. I really liked them a lot. I think I would still really like them, but I have a hard time with series that come out every 6 months. I get behind and then I never seem to get caught back up.
Forest of Hands and Teeth series by Carrie Ryan
I’m not sure what happened with this series. I really loved the first book, but then I picked up book two at a really bad time and couldn’t get into it. I would like to finish them eventually.
House of Night series by P.C. & Kristin Cast
Ugh. I have no intention of ever finishing these.
Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty
WHY have I not read the last book yet!? I think I just don’t want it to be the end…Although, I guess it’s really not now that the prequels are coming out.
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Okay, I know you guys are going to hate me for it, but I just don’t think I like this series. I gave the first book 3 stars and then I could never get into book two….I’m sorry!
Nightshade series by Andrea Cremer
LOVED Nightshade…Wolfsbane frustrated me to no end and I just haven’t picked Bloodrose up yet.
Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld
I devoured the first three Uglies books in just a few days, but I still haven’t read the last one! I soooo need to.
I’d actually consider that as finishing Uglies, because Extras is the same world but different characters. Tally, Shay, and David all make appearances, but I’d still think of it as more of a companion novel than a sequel. However, that said, you should still read it
And I’m with you on TMI. I’ve only read the first one, and might read the second and beyond someday. Maybe. I just feel kind of apathetic towards it.

Hah! I love it when bloggers don’t like series that are loved by other people – we always feel like we need to apologize for not liking it. lol I adored TMI – the first 3 books. The fourth one really wasn’t very good, and I haven’t gotten around to the fifth one yet. The series really should have ended at book 3 IMHO. But her other series is incredible. Like. I can’t even tell you how much I love it. So. Good. Try that one!

You have to read the rest of the Hex Hall series! I love those books. I’m so with you about the reading Bloodrose. I couldn’t stand Wolfsbane and have boycotted Bloodrose.

Don’t blame you on House of Night, and not even I have read Extras (of the Uglies series). I read the first 3 and LOVED them though. I also let go of Beautiful Creatures, but Morganville is worth keeping reading.
Oh House of Night was one of those series I really truly didn’t like at all!! I also never finished Matched, even though I liked it.. Oh and I never read Nightshade anymore after they changed the covers lool!
But, you have to give the Morganville Vampires a chance and Beautiful Creatures! I love them!

I’ve read Matched and just never was interested enough to continue. I never started the House of Night series. I’m the same with Beautiful Creatures. I LOVED that book. I have the second one to read, but I haven’t read it yet. And I’m seeing thing about the movie for the first book. I have but have never started TMI. Read one Morganville Vamps. Read Hex Hall, thought it was okay.
Other series I started but didn’t finish yet- Glimmerglass series by Jenna Black, White Cat by Holly Black, Shadow Falls Series, 13 to Life series. So many series, so little time.

I’m the same way with series. I loved – like, LOVED – Matched, yet I haven’t bought Crossed yet, and I think I need to get it in hardback before the third book comes out…I miss the world. I have the first four Morganville books to start, but I haven’t gotten around to them yet.
And HoN is definitely a series I’m glad I stopped with early on. If the books had stayed good I would have been fine, but I realized early on that the quality sucked and that they were just getting worse. I was also the same way with Alyson Noel’s EVERMORE books: read the first two from the library, ranged from ‘eh’ to ‘frustrating’, not sure if I want to continue on…

I haven’t finished Jessica Darling or TMI either, but I actually enjoyed the first two books of TMI… but I know there are a lot of people out there who don’t. Personal tastes, I suppose. I, on the other hand, did not like Uglies. At. ALL.

I haven’t finished any of these series either (although some I haven’t started yet). And I’m beyond excited for the Jessica Darling Prequels.

I agree with you on House of Night. For a long time I felt like I had to finish a series once I started, but this was a deal breaker… I’ve read up to Awakened, but it was just so BAD! I’ll never finish it!

I felt the same way about The House of Night! Ugh. A few of yours are on my list too. I will have to try the Hex Hall series!
Great list! I have the whole Jessica Darling series and have yet to get to it. OMG I am totally suckish. Also, I love The Curse Workers series and got Black Heart the day it came out and still haven’t read it. Same thing with Dreamless. I loved Starcrossed and couldn’t wait for the second book and still haven’t read it. I do that a lot. There are tons of series I have don’t that with.

1. I still haven’t read Crossed either! I was so excited when I got my ARC too! Sigh..
2. I haven’t read book 3 yet either, I even read the first 1/2 of it and I either wasn’t loving it or I just wasn’t it the mood and put it up for later.

10. You are DONE with the Uglies series! Trust me on this one! It’s a trilogy!!!! Extras RUINS the whole set and should not even be included!!!!! It ends so nicely with book 3!!!

I also have the Caster Chronicles and Mortal Instruments series on my list. I do plan to read the rest of the Caster Chronicles books eventually but I think I’ve given up on Mortal Instruments. I also gave up on the Nightshade series because of Wolfsbane. I think I am just growing tired of YA paranormal romance. Same old, same old.

Lori you NEED to finish the Jess Darling series just so you can see how it ends. Many people are mixed on the last book I feel…either great or meh. I was originally in the camp of “this is so amazing zonggg” because it is MEGAN MCCAFFERTY gah but then the more I thought about it, I wasn’t so in love with the last book. However I still suggest you pick it up some day….before the prequels

I’ve seen a few people say they didn’t really like the 2nd book in the Caster Chronicles. I will definitely have to save this series for a time I can jump right into the 3rd book, just in case I have the same issues. I love The Mortal Instruments but I do know of many people who don’t care for it, so you are definitely not alone there. I really liked Matched but Crossed wasn’t as good for me. I hop the last book makes up for it!

We’re both on the fence about a bunch of the same series. I’ve heard such good things about the Jessica Darling series though so that seems worthwhile. And I love the Morganville series, but I know what you mean that it’s hard to find the time to catch up on long series like that.

The Hex Hall series was really good, I think you’ll like the other books in the series if you liked the first one! As for Matched, I didn’t like the second book, but I hope you do when you get to it. There’s a couple series here listed that I want to start at some point too

SO…we need to get on finishing JD. Although I need to catch up and start book 3 lol. And Nightshade…I heard that Wolfsbane was frustrating! I also WANT to start the Hex Hall series (I heard the author speak at an event and she was h ilarious). I have Matched, The Morganville Vampires and Mortal instruments series all on my shelf!

Over the last few months, I’ve been reading (or catching up on) the Uglies series. Extras, the last book, is so good, as good as the first book in the series I think.
With Matched, I read the first book and was a bit ‘meh’ about it but I thought the second book was even better so

I actually wasn’t a huge fan of Beautiful Creatures, and haven’t read any others in the series. But I am pretty excited for the movie. I definitely plan on seeing it in the theater.

I also won’t finish the House of Night books. Also haven’t read Beautiful Chaos yet and felt kind of torn about Beautiful Darkness. I’m reading Demon Glass at the moment, but it also took me more than a year to pick it up after reading Hex Hall. I’ve read quite fare into the Morganville Vampires and am basically waiting for my sister to pick up the next book in the series so I can borrow it from her
The Forest of Hands and Teeth sits on my shelf, waiting to be read.
About The Mortal Insturments: I’d give book 2 a try. I read Clockwork Angel first and thought it was amazing, then was disappointed when I read City of Bones. The quality of the writing is very different! It gets a lot better in the following books though, and I’m all caught up with the series.

I’m always afraid to start series when there are tons of books already published in them. It gets to be extremely overwhelming! Thus I haven’t even tried the Morganville series. I remember giving City of Bones 3 stars, but being interested enough to keep reading. I’m glad I did. It’s one where as a whole I LOVED the series, although it was slow to start for me. And I need to read Beautiful Creatures especially as it is going to be a movie.
It happened to me the same that you with the first five ones. I’m not used to read series books and if it isn’t really good, I lose the interest in the rest of books. In this moment, I’m reading the Southern Vampires’s saga.

Uglies, Nightshade, Matched, and Forest of Hands and Teeth are a few I never finished, either. I didn’t care for Nightshade and Matched too much, so I never bothered going further. The others I liked but for some reason never picked up the second book =/
Hex Hall and Mortal Instruments are SO AWESOME. Especially Hex Hall. Book 3 was my favorite of that series!

I haven’t read the final Uglies book either. But I think it’s with different characters? For some reason I felt like it’s not a direct continuation, so I think that’s part of the reason I haven’t read Extras.
I’m excited for the Jessica Darling perquels bc I liked her better in High School… she was a lot more fun! I haven’t read the last book in that series yet bc the 4th one kind of irked me. Anyway… I’ve been wanting to read the Hex Hall books for ages it seems, I need to get on it!

I’m pretty sure that I haven’t read the last Jessica Darling book because I don’t want it to end. It has been years since I finished the second to last though, so I’m not sure I’ll really remember what has happened when I do pick it up.

My list would be almost identical! I haven’t read The Forest of Hands and Teeth or Uglies though. But the others, yep. I didn’t love the first three in Mortal Instruments but loved the fourth! I still need to read the fifth.

I should have added the Morganville Vamp series as well. Once they switched from mass market paperback to hardcover, I was done. I have a desperate need to have my covers match!
I also should have added the Uglies series. I made it through the first two only.
