Cover changes happen. I’ve come to terms with that. Sometimes I don’t always understand them but I assume that the publishing industry knows a lot more than me. That doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion and a preference. So I want to point out some of the cover changes I adore…and the ones I do not. Whether it be repackaging or new covers for paperback. Feel free to state your opinion as well. This is Part 5 of what is turning out to be a very ongoing post. (There’s just so many changes) Click for Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, and Part 6.
I don’t know if it’s just me but there’s something so appealing about a bind up. The covers are usually better than the originals and I just want to buy them all!
Keeping Secrets by Alyson Noel
The bind up is so pretty!
Used to Be by Eileen Cook
I love the Used to Be cover.
Green Heart by Alice Hoffman
I like them all!
The Dark Elite by Chloe Neill
I adore the separate book covers, but I still like the bind up cover.
Endless Summer by Jennifer Echols
Thank goodness they changed that cover.
Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine
I’m much too lazy to list all of these and the individual books that go into them. I do like the original book covers better, though.
What do you guys think? Are you more apt to buy a omnibus if the cover is better? Do you still prefer individual books?

Cool post!! I mostly don’t like when they change covers…. there are a few exceptions and that Jennifer Echols animated one would definitely be one of them!! And Honestly I don’t like when they put books together in one for 2 reasons: 1. I feel like they name it something else and don’t clearly state that it’s an anthology and to me it’s like they are trying to deceive me into buying books I’ve already read. (Like the Eileen Cook book, the writing on it is SO small!!) 2. Most of the time I will have read one book that’s in there and one or two that I haven’t read. So I can’t buy it anyhow.

I think I like the redos better than all of the originals…and that NEVER happens. lol I’d add A CHARMED LIFE by Jenny B. Jones to the omnibus cover being better than the original series. It’s just so cute!

Actually, I love all the “new” covers, so here this is definitely a plus and a good idea, since the initial covers were not so … nice. What I find confusion is the new name and if its not perfectly stated that those are 2 books. Like with Eileen Cook! (the new cover however is super pretty!)
Overall, I am a “series” reader meaning I love reading books back to back and as soon asI finished the last one, so those Omnibus versins are perfect for me!

i actually prefer individual books because it makes me feel like i accomplished something when i finish one. with an omnibus, you usually have to read a few books in order to get that satisfaction which takes way longer. however, i do think that a lot of omnibus covers are better or are just as pretty as the originals, making me want to buy them. the two off the top of my head i can think of is the soul series by rachel vincent (love the first omni) as well as the drake chronicles omni by alyxandra harvey.

Hey, I’m addicted to covers, so of course I love to buy the prettier version – and if I get more than one book in that version, I’m definitely even happier.
Thanks for sharing – I really like these omnibus covers!

I’m really funny about covers in series. I usually like having each individual cover. However, I do think there are some pretty omnibus covers. The Soul Screamers series has some of the prettiest.

If it’s a series that I haven’t read I think I would be more likely to buy the omnibus because honestly, it’s just cheaper than buying them individually. Unless the individual books have really great covers, then I will buy the individual books. I think some of these were changes for the better, but I also really like some of the individual ones better.

I think I have a love-hate attitude towards cover changes. Sometimes, they’re good changes. Sometimes they’re not. One in particular that I really haven’t liked is All These Things I’ve Done. I really REALLY loved the one with the drippy chocolate heart on it. Do not like the new cover with the side view face. Mostly because I think it looks like one of my old co-workers who I really did not like! I approve of these cover changes for the bindups. They all look so good!

I actually love the omnibus covers than the individual ones for most of these ! It is also a much cheaper and space saving option. One of my favorite versions of these is Soul Screamers, which is turned into volumes. I think that is so smart for a series with multiple books.

This is a tricky one, I love the omnibus covers so much more in this post but I do prefer having individual books! I think if I loved the omnibus cover a lot, I would probably buy that! Very interesting post

I love bind ups just because they tend to be cheaper when you work out the price it costs to buy the books indeividually. Some of them really are pretty though. that alyson noel bind up is especially nice.

I like the bind up editions, especially if it’s a series I’ve waited on reading. Then it’s cost effective too – bonus! I haven’t read Endless Summer by Echols, but I would never have picked it up with the old cover, and with the new cover I’m intrigued. Love this cover series, Lori!
