I posted about my favorite horror movies the other day, but now I wanted to point out some of my favorite book to movie adaptions. In other words, a Stephen King love fest.
Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin
I saw this movie before I read the book and fell in love with the subtle creepiness. Then I picked up the book at a used bookstore and devoured it. It’s been awhile but I remember being shocked at how closely the movie followed the book. If you have watched or read it I highly recommend it.
Carrie by Stephen King
I’m sure everyone has saw this movie, right? The old one. Not the newer one. I love the book and movie both.
The Shining by Stephen King
So I haven’t actually read this book, but the movie is so creeptastic and awesome! REDRUM
Sometimes They Come Back (based on the short story by Stephen King)
I loved this one sooo much. The premise was awesome. I wonder if I would find it corney now, though.
Pet Sematary by Stephen King
You guys, this was one of the first scary movies I ever remember watching. Pascow scared me to death! Oh, and the sister creeped me out. My sister used to yell ‘Raaachel’ in that voice from her bedroom to scare me. Anyway, even though it scared me I loved it. I read the book when I was around 12 or so and fell in love with it all over again. It’s still one of my favorite books ever. The movie is fantastic. I can still hear Fred Gwynne saying ‘It’s that damn road’ as Jud Crandall in that thick Maine accent. I think it’s time to watch it again.
Do you love any of these? What your favorite horror book to movie adaptations?
