My Favorite Witchy Books

Halloween Spooktacular

Witches might just be my favorite flavor of paranormal. I just love how much you can do with them. They can have every conceivable power or one very specific one.  My favorites are usually the ones that have lots of witches involved in a story and every one of them has a really unique and special ability. Here’s some of my most favorite witch books. Let me know your favorites too!

Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough

Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough

This book was filled to the brim with magic and atmosphere. Every witch a had really unique gift. It’s been years since I read it. It was one of my first YA new release purchases after I started blogging. I would love to read it again and finally get around to reading the sequel.

Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey

Most people don’t think about this being a witch book. It’s sort of a zombie book too. I think I would put it firmly in the witch category though. Wren has lost of powers and it’s so great seeing her learn about them. This is definitely a good Halloween read.

Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz

This is another one where every witch has a special gift. I really enjoyed this one. I definitely need to read the sequel.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

The Harry Potter series

How could I not include this one? Hermione is the best witch ever!

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood

This the the most recent witch book I adored. The world is just fantastic. I can’t wait to dig into the sequel.

Do you love these witchy books too? What are some of your other favorites?

  3. I love witch books and have not read ANY of these (except HP, of course). I’ll definitely be checking them out!

One of my recent witch faves that I highly recommend is Camille DeAngelis’s PETTY MAGIC.

  4. HARRY POTTER! <3

And I really loved Once a Witch. That book doesn't get nearly the attention it deserves.

  10. I haven’t read any of these besides HP, but I’ve been meaning to pick up BORN WICKED since it came out. And really, it has such a gorgeous cover. One of my favorite penguin covers, I think.

  12. I have read Once A Witch and loved it too! The time travel thing is just really fun to read and MacCullough managed to do it within 280 pages is really impressive! Cold Kiss and Witches of the East End are books that I added to my TBR list and then forget about :P I have read glowing reviews of the two book, but never thought of reading it soon or think it was pressing to read it soon otherwise the reader soul in me will die. Also, Cold Kiss looks kind of intimidating… But I think I will read it someday, it is on the list ;) As for Born Wicked, I am dying to read it! I actually just saw the paperback cover for this book and loved it as much as this one! My local bookstore have it (it’s big deal, since the YA choices there is really scarce and old, out-dated), but it was way more expensive than ordering it online, so I just have to wait two to three weeks before I can read it at all. HP is a must for everyone, so nothing need to be said there ;) Personally, my favorite witch books would be The Sweep series by Cate Tierman, granted, it was the only witch series (except for Once A Wtich) I’ve read, so I’d pick it. But the details are great in these books. The plot is a little lacking and the characters can get annoying at times, but all in all it is a series worth reading ;)
