This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books To Get In The Halloween Spirit

Halloween Top Ten Tuesday

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
There’s certain scenes in Mara that just give me the chills. Even thinking back on it. Same goes for Evolution. They are subtly creeptastic.

The Diviners by Libba Bray
OMG Naughty John is the most creeptastic villain EVER!

Cryer’s Cross by Lisa McMann
Talk about Creepy. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat and maybe even make you sleep with the lights on.

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
AHHH! That scene outside the window! So creepy!

Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick
I think what made Ashes so scary for me was how intense it was. You barely have time to process one horrific thing before another one happens. It’s awesome.

Halloween Top Ten Tuesday

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
This one was really only scary for me at the very beginning, but it was an awesome scene and the pictures are creepy!

Harry Potter series
These obviously aren’t scary, but I adore how well Rowling captures the atmosphere of autumn and Halloween.

Pet Sematary by Stephen King
I read this when I was about 12 or 13 and I knew what was going to happen, because I’d saw the movie, but OMG did it freak me out. When Louis and Jud are going to the sematary = scary.

Rosmary’s Baby by Ira Levin
Soooo creepy! I really always loved realistic this one felt. You can’t help but put yourself in Rosemary’s shoes and that’s just horrifying.

Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey
Cold Kiss is subtly creepy and intense. I highly recommend it for a quick Halloween read.

  16. Great list!! I need to read The Diviners. I have it, I just haven’t had the time to tackle such a huge book. I am listening to the audio of Miss Peregrine’s now and I really like it so far. I haven’t read Ashes or Cold Kiss yet either and I have those. Ten and Possession by Gretchen McNeil are good Halloween mood books too!!
