The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.
Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California – and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.
As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.
In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.
It’s really hard to review the last book in a trilogy. I’m going to try not to spoil anything from the first two books, but I make no guarantees. Boundless starts with Clara getting ready to leave for Stanford. There’s a whole summer in between Hallowed and this book. If you want to be 100% in the know I suggest reading the Radiant novella, as it covers Clara and Angela’s time in Italy. It’s not super necessary, I didn’t read it, but the trip is mentioned a lot. So it wouldn’t hurt to read it.
I’ve loved this series from page 1. The first book blew me away, the second book broke my heart and left me reeling. What did the third one have in store for me? Pretty much, everything I wanted. The Black Wings are still after Clara, her brother is still being mysterious, and Christian and Tucker are still very much in the picture. My one and only qualm was that there was not enough Tucker. I guess I should be okay with that because Tucker has had a bigger role in the other books. Honestly, I just want Tucker on every single page. I love that boy.
The world that Cynthia Hand created has only gotten better with each book. I’ve said it before but let me reiterate, these are the only angel books I like. So if you still haven’t read them, either because you’re not an angel fan or maybe because you only read contemporary, please change that. In my opinion they are not genre specific. They are just incredible. If you enjoy fantastic romance, characters you can cheer for, and amazing writing then you need to read these.
That’s really all I can say without giving too much away. I will leave you with this: I can’t think of an ending that could have made me happier. I was left with a huge grin on my face. I just hate to see the series end. I could read at least 4 more books, but I’m just excited to see what Cynthia Hand has in store for us next.
