Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome people at The Broke and the Bookish
This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books I Resolve To Read In 2013
1. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
I’ve had this book on my shelf a sad amount of time. Years. The thing is I know I’m going to OMG LOVE it and I still haven’t read it. That is going to change in the next few months. Really, it is.
2. Ender’s Games by Orson Scott Card
I want to see what all the fuss is about and read it before the movie comes out.
I still haven’t read it!
4. The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
I feel so horrible that I haven’t read this yet.
5. The Host by Stephenie Meyer (Reread)
I read this right when it was released and I don’t remember nearly enough about it. Plus, it was pretty incredible and I’d like to experience that again.
6. The Magicians by Lev Grossman
I’ve had this on my shelf for about a year now and every time I walk by it it calls to me.
7. The Hobbit and/or The Lord of the Rings trilogy
And I call myself a reader…and a fantasy fan. I’m ashamed.
8. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
I loved The Diviners so much! I’m excited to dive into more of Libba’s books.
9. Dreamland Social Club by Tara Altebrando
This is another one I’ve had on my shelf forever.
10. Blackbringer by Laini Taylor
I bought this in…2009, I think, after reading Lips Touch. I’d really like to finally get to it.

The Book Thief is on my list too! I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to pick it up. It’s just been sitting on my shelf. Here’s to keeping New Year’s resolutions!

I’ve heard goo things about the Divergent series, I’m hoping to finally get around to reading it. I must say I was disappointed in A Great and Terrible Beauty, but I hope you enjoy it more!

Oooh, nice list! I also have Insurgent on my list! Happy new year, and good luck with your resolutions! =)

The Host is amazing! Probably my favourite standalone book.
Noo! You haven’t read Insurgent yet. That book is pure genius in my opinion.
Have fun reading all those books!
The Teen Reader
Great picks Lori!
I haven’t read LOTR or The Hobbit either.. *hangs head in shame* There on my shelf but never quite seem to get around to it.
I’m intrigued about The Host…. Again, it’s sitting on my shelf waiting for me to get around to reading it. I was a bit skeptical about it to be honest.
Hope you enjoy reading them all.

I looooooved Blackbringer. Laini Taylor is AMAZING. Be forewarned, though – it’s aimed at a slightly younger audience then her Daughter of Smoke and Bone books.

There’s a few on there I need to read, especially Demon King and Insurgent. I have the audiobook of Blackbringer, I love Laini’s writing!

I feel horrible about not reading The Book Thief too. Everyone says it’s ~life changing~ but I’ve put it off because my expectations are so high.
I also need to read The Magicians too because everyone calls it Harry Potter for grown ups.

I have read the host multiple times, I love it and I can’t wait to see the movie, I am so curious to see how the pull it of and whether or not I enjoy this. I also really want to read a Libba Bray book, I have heard great things about them but I have been hesitant because I am not a big historical fan. Good luck with reading all these I hope you enjoy!

Fantastic list. I have The Host on my list too, but not as a re-read. You really need to read Ender’s Game and Book Thief they are both amazing. Hope you enjoy all of these!

The Host is on my list too. I want to read it before the movie comes out.
I’ve read The Book Thief. I loved it, but at first it was hard to get into. So if you experience that, don’t give up keep reading. It sort of reminds me of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in that sense. The beginning was rough, but once I passed 50-70 pages the story picked up and became incredible (to me). I don’t recommend watching the American version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo though. From what I heard it focuses more on the sex than actual plot. The Swedish version is pretty good and accurate to the book.

Ender’s Game is SO good. The Book Thief was pretty good too, but maybe not worth quite so much hype? The Magicians… I kind of hated.
Good luck and Happy New Year!

I just bought The Book Thief and The Magicians is SO FANTASTIC. I just listened to the audiobook and it was just… wow. Very very dark, but I am already excited to listen to the sequel.

The Book Thief is amazing! I love that book so much. I’m reading The Hobbit at the minute and it’s great, but it’s making me want to read everything Tolkien, haha!

Lots of really great books on your list! I loved The Magicians, The Hobbit, and A Great and Terrible Beauty. The Magicians is dark, as people have been saying, but I ended up loving the characters despite their flaws. A Great and Terrible Beauty is one I’d like to re-read. Happy reading in 2013!

You’ve never read a Tolkien book?! This must be remedied!! If you don’t like classics, you’ll probably like The Hobbit better, but really, anything he wrote is just SO good!!

Insurgent!!!! Just love this book and series. And it’s been awhile, but I really liked The Hobbit too. I still need to go see the movie though. Great list! And Happy New Year!

So many people have Ender’s Game on their list because of the movie! It’s one of my top five favorite books of all time. (The cover is falling off!) I think it has such brilliant characterization of the protagonist. You melt for little Ender.
The Host wasn’t bad. I just giggled a little because Meyer must have a thing for men picking up girls and carrying them around… It happens in her books A LOT.
I have mixed feelings about Insurgent. It wasn’t quite on the same level as Divergent for me (which I loved). We’ll see how she closes the series!
Great list! Happy reading it 2013!

I loved both Insurgent and The Book Thief. I read Ender’s Game years ago when I was in middle school, but with a movie coming out I feel I really need to re-read, since I barely remember anything at all, except for the ending.

The Book Thief is indeed amazing. I’ve also read A Great and Terrible Beauty, the Host, and, The Hobbit. Those were all enjoyable books as well. The rest all look really good. Happy New Years and happy reading!
Here are the books I resolve to read

Ender’s Game and the companion book called Ender’s Shadow would be worth reading back to back. I recently read them both and they are very worthy. Tolkien is worth your time too, tho The Hobbit is much more accessible and faster paced than The Lord of the Rings.
My man says I need to read The Host, which he enjoyed many years ago.

So many good books! I think The Book Thief is on my 2011 list, sigh…still haven’t read it either.
The Magicians is another one that caught my eye. I know you can knock out your list this year! Good luck with all your reading goals and happy new year!

Yes! I need to reread The Host too! The Magicians didn’t make it on my Top Ten list but it is on my TBR list.

Oh my goodness, you should read Insurgent and The Book Thief soon! They are SO GOOD! I also enjoyed A Great and Terrible Beauty! And I still need to catch up on the LOTR series, though I loved the Hobbit and the first one. Definitely a new goal for 2013
Happy New Year and happy reading!!

I want to read Ender’s Game before the movie comes out, too. The Book Thief is a phenomenal book- I hope you love it! I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to the LotR books- fantasy is my favorite genre, and yet I’ve only read The Hobbit! Someday I’ll read the rest. (: A Great and Terrible Beauty was my first Libba Bray book- I tore through the series.
Happy New Year and thanks for stopping by my blog! (:

Insurgent!!! I am dying for the third one… I’m so glad it’s less than a year away! I really hope you enjoy it. I just recently became interested in A Great and Terrible Beauty and it seemed like I was the only one who hadn’t read it… alas I’m not
I love the simplicity of the cover! Great picks!!!

I want to read The Host and Insurgent this year too! The Book Thief is soooo good. Enjoy!
So many people have Ender’s Game on their lists! I should have added that, too, because I need to read it! And I really enjoyed The Host, much more than I enjoyed the Twilight series, actually.
Thanks so much for stopping by my TTT. I don’t know why I’m not following you already–you’ve designed quite a few of my friends’ blogs (Courtney @ Abducted by Books, Kate @ Midnight Book Girl, Kim @ On the Wings of Books, and Steph @ The Fake Steph Dot Com). THE BOOK THIEF. Ahhhh. The best book I’ve ever read and my favourite of all-time. Can’t wait to see what you think. Also, The Hobbit is brilliant and so is The Host.
I also want to read Dreamdark soon, I’ve had it a good couple of years. I’m sure I’ll love it. Good luck with your reading goals!

Ender’s Game is on my list too! I read The Hobbit a year ago but I really hated it. Maybe you’ll love it though. I just thought it was a lot of running and fighting with no substance, but it has a few cute rhymes. I’m also pretty keen to read Insurgent. I hope you get to read all of these, they look great!

I’ve only read two books on your list – The Hobbit ( really not a favorite of mine although I liked it more than Lord of the Rings ) and A Great and Terrible Beauty ( also not favorite of mine. The four main girls annoyed me. But I know many people love it, and I hope you do too! )
Good luck on your reading resolutions and happy new year

I cant believe you haven’t read Insurgent yet!
I made up my list of some series I desperately want to get caught up on today and I actually totally get why you haven’t read some of these. I have SO many I have been dying to read for YEARS waiting to be read.

I have been wanting to start the Seven Realms series as well. I have heard nothing but amazing things and I think that it could be as amazing as The Mortal Instruments series once I pick it up. I have a policy where I have to read the book before I see the movie, so The Host is a must-read this year before the movie. Awesome list, thanks!

Insurgent and The Book Thief are amazing! I really enjoyed A Great and Terrible Beauty, but I admit that the rest of the trilogy disappointed me. I haven’t read The Hobbit or any of the LOTR trilogy, either. I should probably get on that…
I JUST finished The Demon King yesterday and I’m still hyped up on awesome!! ENJOY!
I really want to read The Book Thief, A Great and Terrible Beauty and Ender’s Game, toooooo!
