Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome people at The Broke and the Bookish
This week’s topic is: Top Ten Settings I’d Like To See More Of
1. The South
I always love a good book set in my neck of the woods.
2. Stars Hollow
You guys, I loooove Gilmore Girl! Wouldn’t it be amazing to read a book set in a town like Stars Hollow?! YES!
3. Summer Camps
I adored summer camp! I ‘d love to revisit that.
4. Road Trips
Everyone loves a good road trip book.
5. Backpacking
Same goes for backpacking. Who doesn’t love reading about that?!
6. Australia
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book set in Australia (or by an Australian author) that I didn’t like.
7. The Beach
I know there’s tons of books set at the beach, but I can’t get enough of them.
8. Rome
I love, love, love reading about Rome.
9. The Wilderness
I’m a very outdoorsy person. I love the woods and the mountains and all the gritty stuff that comes along with that.

Stars Hallows-like towns made my list as well! I want to read about a small town filled with quirky characters *so* much. It was such a great setting for my favorite show ever, and every time I watch it(which is often, since I have all the DVDs and pretty much watch only two other TV shows besides) I always wonder why more TV shows/books/movies don’t utilize the idea of the quirky small town.

Road trips, the wilderness, the South, backpacking, Rome… Yes, all of them. Especially the wilderness, because I too am an outdoorsy girl and really like the nature scene. Not many YA books include that aspect unless the person is on the run, or unless it’s some horror scene.

I love Stars Hollow and used to wish it was a real place so I could move there

A summer camp book would be fun to read about… especially if the characters were the camp counselors. Hmm I may need to look into this & see if there are any out there like that. Great idea!
Yes to Summer Camps!! I love camp settings, it’s so fun. And road trips are always really fun too!! Great list Lori!

The Wilderness is actually a much better way to describe what I meant by The Woods haha. I love survivor stories! I’d also love more road trip/back packing books (maybe in Australia?) and stories set in Rome. And as always, I love how you formatted this.

Summer camp! I never went to summer camp, Lori. I think that your yet to born son should go to summer camp because of this. haha. I did really love reading The Lost Summer (set at camp) and The Summer of Firsts and Lasts if you haven’t tried those out.
Also! THE SOUTH. Love it. (Have you read Queen of Kentucky?) I would like some south with a dose of country music, please!

YESSS to Stars Hollow! in my Gilmore Girls heyday, there was nothing more I wanted to do than live in a small town like that. I don’t know if I can do that right now but it does seem very lovely! LOVE Rome, backpacking, and road trips!

Oh I love the road trip idea! So many different places to drive through, break down in, unusual sights to see…plus just think of the humanity you’d come across! I am loving the summer camp idea as well.

What a great list, Lori! And I like all the outdoor settings. Lots of story potential! Summer camp counselors sounds fun- maybe in Australia to combine a couple settings! This week’s topic is so fun and makes me realize how many great setting opportunities there are.
