Cover changes happen. I’ve come to terms with that. Sometimes I don’t always understand them but I assume that the publishing industry knows a lot more than me. That doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion and a preference. So I want to point out some of the cover changes I adore…and the ones I do not. Whether it be repackaging or new covers for paperback. Feel free to state your opinion as well. This is Part 9 of what is turning out to be a very ongoing post. (There’s just so many changes) Click for Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, and the Omnibus edition, Part 7, and Part 8.
Wake by Lisa McMann
Hmm. I don’t love the original, I never did, but I’m not a fan of the new one. I don’t think it’s as striking as the old one.
Chain Reaction by Simone Elkeles
As far as I know they only changed this cover and not the whole series. So I wonder if it was too risqué for someone? They have their clothes on! I don’t mind the new one, though.
Cryer’s Cross by Lisa McMann
I definitely like the original better. This is one creeptastic book and the new cover just looks like a romance.
Changeling by Philippa Gregory
Definitely prefer the new one!
While He Was Away by Karen Schreck
I haven’t read this one so I can’t say which applies to the story better, but I really don’t like all the pink in the old cover. I usually dislike the shirtless guy covers but I don’t mind this one too much…
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
I like the new version so much better.
and the biggest of them all:
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
I pretty in love with the new cover. The originals will always be the cover that we think of when we picture the books. It’s not going anywhere. But I’m really excited to see the new ones.
Love the changes? Hate them? What do you think?
