We can’t all love everything and some books just aren’t for me. Sometimes I try really hard to love a book but if it’s taking me 4 days to read 100 pages, we need to have the talk. I debated quite a while on whether or not to do this feature, but I thought it would be fun, so Book Breakups was born.
There’s so much buzz about this book and the plot sounded so awesome. It didn’t take me long to realize it wasn’t for me though. I’m a huge fan of character driven novels and I always seem to have issues with books told from many POVs. We All Looked Up was no exception. Plus, I felt like the character were pretty clichéd and in pretty clichéd situations. Sigh…
Here’s some people who adored it:
Guys, I am so unbelievably sad that this book has found itself in this post. I love Elizabeth Wein’s books. Love. They’re so full of history, adventure, and heartbreak. I just couldn’t get into this one. I gave it a lot of effort but I was just bored. Maybe because I don’t know much about Ethiopia and that made it hard to connect. I keep telling myself I’ll give it another try, but I probably won’t. I’m so sad.

If you would like to participate in Book Breakups then go right ahead! Link back to me. I would also love it if you linked to some positive reviews in your breakup posts. That way everyone gets both side of the story.
