Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone…
A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.
Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.
Six of Crows was one of my most anticipated books of the year. It’s a known fact that I absolutely loved the Grisha series. I was thrilled to dive back into that world and start a new adventure with different characters. And what an adventure it was!
Six of Crows did start off the tiniest bit slow for me but it wasn’t a problem in the end. There’s a lot of details to take in and a new rich setting to soak up. The book is told from alternating points of view. Sometimes I find that a little disconcerting but Leigh Bardugo does a marvelous job making each character fascinating.
Inej was definitely my favorite character. She is such a well done strong female lead. I loved slowly finding out her back story and I can’t wait to see what happens with her next. All the characters were fantastic. Each of their stories unravels slowly throughout the book. Some are maddening, some are heartbreaking. All are riveting.
The book is so filled with action that it’s almost impossible to put down. The heist gave me a lot of anxiety. It’s a definite nail biter. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Six of Crows was a very impressive start to a new series. But I really didn’t expect anything less from Leigh Bardugo.
