Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome people at The Broke and the Bookish
This week’s topic is: Ten Characters I’d Name A Child/Dog/Cat/Car/Etc. After.
Since I was pregnant this time last year, baby names are still fresh on my mind. We’ve also had 2 boys so I have a few unused girl names. I really love names, but I’m kind of picky. I wanted the boys to have semi uncommon names (not in the top 100), they had to be real names and correct spellings. So here’s some that were on our lists and books they can be found in.
All name links lead to Behind the Name for meanings and such.
Well, of course this name and the next one were going to be on the list! We decided on Finn very early on. Before we even knew he was a boy! We both loved it. We did want a longer name that Finn was the nickname for. That was a bit harder to decide on. We ultimately went with Finnian. I just love everything about it! It a nice strong name but not too strong and it very uncommon!
Finn in books:
We had a harder time with baby number two. Rowan was on my list from the beginning, but we had a hard time agreeing on something. We finally settled on Rowan about 8 weeks before he was born. I love it! It suits him perfectly.
Rowan in books:
Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
I think there’s a Rowan later in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas?
Elias was actually on out baby name lists, because I didn’t discover it until after Rowan was born. I love it so much. It’s definitely my number one baby name now. Although, it might be a tad too popular for me.
Elias in books:
Atticus was actually our number one pick when we found out R was a boy. We were almost settled on it, but we found out someone else I know was naming their baby that. We decided to go another way and I’m happy we did. I really like the name, but it’s such a strong name for this tiny cute baby!
Atticus in Books:
Our list was eventually narrowed down to Rowan or Ronan. I still like Ronan a lot.
Ronan in Books:
I adore Seraphina! We never seriously discussed girl names, but I’m sure my husband would never go for this one. I think its beautiful and I love Phina for short.
Seraphina in Books:
I love Isla. It’s my favorite girl name. It’s a bit too popular for my taste, though. 🙁
Isla in Books:
I really like Penelope and all the nickname options.
Penelope in Books:
Saffron is another one that I’m sure my husband would never agree to, but it’s so pretty! I’ve loved it ever since reading the book mentioned below.
Saffron in Books:
I’ve been seeing Gemma around a lot lately. Honestly, I don’t love it as much as I once did, but I still think it’s pretty.
Gemma in Books:
Milo was actually our runner up name for Rowan. He was really close to being named that and I still love it so much. I just couldn’t think of one book with a character with that name…
Theo/Theodore is another name I loooooove. I recently read All the Bright Places and it made me love it even more.
I can’t believe I forgot Wren! I like it so much more than Gemma! It’s one of my favorite girl names! We could never use it because it rhymes with Finn lol. Fangirl has a Wren, right? And Lovely, Dark and Deep.
I want to name all future pets after Harry Potter characters.
Albus & Aberforth
Just to name a few…
