Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome people at The Broke and the Bookish
This week’s topic is: All About The Villains — I don’t think we’ve done a villains topic since back in November 2010 so let’s revisit: top ten favorite/most compelling villains in books, top ten of the most vile villains/bad guys in books, top ten villains I secretly (or not so secretly) love, favorite tv villains, favorite comic book villains, ten “villains” of contemporary lit.
I did my own villains post way back in 2010. I’m recycling a few of the villains, but there’s plenty of new ones here.
The Darkling from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Oh my gosh. I still can’t even with The Darkling. I loved him so much…at first.
Jack Randall from Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
It been so many years since I read Outlander, but I still shudder thinking about Jack Randall.
Voldemort from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
He Who Must Not Be Named is always at the top of the best villains list.
Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Ugh. She might be my most hated character ever.
President Snow from The Hunger Game trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Snow is another
Naughty John from The Diviners by Libba Bray
He was so creepy!
Uncle Hiram & Frank Dilly from The Gold Seer Trilogy by Rae Carson
I just read book 2 a couple of weeks ago so their atrocious behavior is still fresh for me. I hate them.
The Commandant from An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
I still have 7ish hours in the audio of this so I don’t know how things with the Commandant end up but right now she’s pretty evil.
Leck from The Graceling trilogy
Honestly, I don’t remember much about Leck since it’s been so long since I read this trilogy. He certainly made an impression on me though. He was included in my 2010 villains post.
